Thank you for considering the Center School.

The Center School is a friendly, homey, community school, and a solace to children and families who are seeking an alternative to institutionalized learning. In addition to rigorous academic learning, we prioritize social consciousness, integrated with social/emotional learning and innovative academic challenges and deep discussions. We incorporate art, music and nature into each day. Through meaningful academic projects and deep discussions, the Center School fosters and supports indomitable intellectual curiosity and self-efficacy.

Center School students learn to self-reflect, analyze and extend themselves to their peers and the greater community. We accept students ready to work hard as individuals, able to learn how to be considerate community members and motivated to make the world a better place.

Center School teachers are skilled educators who have a common regard for progressive practices in education. Each Center School classroom has as least two teachers who attend to their students with humor, love, empathy and consummate diligence.

Center School parents are thoughtful participants in their child’s education. The Center School’s warm community encourages parent engagement in myriad ways. The most essential ingredient for a Center School parent is a deep desire to see their child happy, confident and challenged in their school environment.

Center School graduates successfully continue on to both public and private high schools and have grown up to become community organizers, teachers, doctors, researchers, public defenders, environmentalists, world travelers, artists and more.
