  • Employment Classification: Seasonal (Summer)

    Reports to: After School and Summer Camp Coordinator, Anna Slezak (a.slezak@centerschool.net)

    Duration: 3 weeks: June 16th-July 4th (plus 1-day pre-camp training)

    Schedule: Day shift 8:15-3:45, Monday to Friday

    Compensation: $1,000 per 5-day week for Lead Teachers, $800 per 4-day week (Weeks of 6/16 and 6/30)

    Description/Responsibilities: Center School Summer Camp staff are responsible for creating a nurturing, creative space for campers to come together and learn through play. Leaders are responsible for creating and implementing a curriculum, along with the camp director, to support and extend student creativity and growth. Camp leaders are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, supportive camp environment. Leaders will be supported by the camp director.

    Maintaining quality communication with parents and guardians, and abiding by all Center School policies, is also required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Ability to pass CORI and SORI checks

    • Prior experience working with children 

    • Passion for creating a nurturing, child-centered, play-based classroom community

    • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with colleagues

    • Understanding of the needs of children and teens

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working in camps or in a classroom

    • First aid and CPR certification

    • A passion for nature and naturalist studies

    Schedule: Day shift 8:15-3:45, Monday to Friday

    Compensation: $750 per 5-day week for Assistant Teachers, $600 per 4-day week (Weeks of 6/16 and 6/30)

    Description/Responsibilities: The assistant teacher will support the camp head teacher(s) by playing an active role in the exciting summer camps occurring at The Center School.

    Responsibilities will include; student safety, assisting in the preparation of materials for camps, snack preparation, assisting in crafts, games, outdoor play and other camp activities, behavior management, assisting in the set up, clean up,and running of day camps.  

    DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist Head Teachers in routine duties of caring for and teaching children.

    • Assist in classroom management, implementation of curriculum and playground activities.

    • Participate in documentation of student work.

    • Cleaning and organizing work and play areas. Keeping room well-organized and arranged appropriately.

    • Perform other duties as assigned

    • Communicate with students with clarity and sensitivity

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • Experience with working with children, preferably ages 3-5 years of age 

    • Passion for creating a nurturing, child-centered, play-based classroom community

    • Work with Lead Teachers to support the educational, social and emotional development of students

    • Maintain open and positive communication with teaching partners.
