Ambitious Projects (AP) Night in the 8th Grade

The spring is full of activity for our 8th graders. We have started our final collaborative filmmaking projects, are rounding the final corner of math, and thinking about graduation and high school.

This week, our 8th graders will present their Ambitious Projects to an audience of family, friends, and community members at AP Night. Each student has been working for the past few months on an independent, self-driven project. The experience is informative and powerful for students. They learn about themselves as learners, builders, artists, and entrepreneurs. While the final products are often quite impressive, it’s so important to delve into the process and see what lessons lie in store for us there. It has been so special to see these kids go from idea to reality, navigating challenges along the way.

Here’s a list of what each student has chosen for their project:

  • Arjuna: Nature, city, and landscape photography

  • Barnaby: Backyard wildlife photography

  • Bea: Poetry and polaroids

  • Charlotte: Creating a skirt out of crocheted “granny squares”

  • Emma: Designing and launching a line of skincare products

  • Hendrix: Exploring and documenting walks in Greenfield

  • Iya: Design and construction of a dress

  • Julia: Songwriting and music production

  • River: Making Pour Paintings and selling them to raise funds and awareness for SOLA

  • Sam: Building a rocket (and launching it!)

  • Tim: Building a kiosk to hold trail maps for Center School trails

If you are curious in how these kids present their process and products, please join us in the All School room at 6pm on Thursday, April 11th!
