The Return of Traditions
Dear Friends,
To quote my friends the Lumber Primes commenting on Grandparents and Special Friends Day: "I was nervous and excited and it felt a little weird and different, but good."
"It was really fun." "I felt overwhelmed." "I wished they could stay longer." They were spot on. What a morning! It was followed by an incredible Museum and reception, which were a great celebration of student work. Many of the pieces were interactive (A galaxy room! A floor to ceiling mobile you could step into! Air ship experiments you could pick up and hold!). Several of the pieces in Museum showed brave attempts leading to failure, and then reflection, and then success. This is the iterative learning process and it is what creates deep understanding and resilience in humans. I felt that we had turned the school space into a state of the art children's museum, it was so rich with stimulating content and visually pleasing. Several students remarked how proud they felt having their work and reflections shown.
Thank you to the Parent Union, the teachers, and the admin team for their support on this special day. It was great to get back to such important traditions.
Speaking of special traditions, the 7-8th Grade Ambitious Projects (AP) night and Film Festival are coming up. Parents and Adult Community, I highly recommend attending these if you can. It's a great way to see how our students' experience culminates as we build to graduation.
Finally, if you didn't get to see the video we presented at the reception last week, I hope you will take 5 minutes to watch. It is a vivid reminder of all this community has been through in the last 3 years. We have come a long way, and it took a village!
Here's to a gorgeous week!
Love,
