At the Center School, we use an admissions process that allows for prospective families and students to be provided with all of the information they need to best understand our program, philosophy, and community. We also strive to learn as much as we can about all of our prospective students throughout the process, so that they can be in a position to be both happy and successful as members of our school community.
See our Uppers classrooms in action in our video tours:
Step One: Inquire
Please fill out the inquiry form below. Once your inquiry form is submitted, you will receive an email that includes the link to our tour scheduler for Step Two.
Step Two: Schedule a Tour
Once you have completed Step One, you will receive an email with a link to our tour scheduler. When possible, campus tours are hosted by our Uppers (Grades 6 & 7) students. After the tour, you will have time to meet with Lauren Obregón, Director of Admissions and Outreach, to learn more about our school and answer any questions you might have.
Step Three: Apply
Once you have had your on-campus tour, you will be sent an email prompting you to create an account in our database, BigSIS. Once you have logged in, you will see our online application in your account portal. Priority deadline for applications is February 1st. After that date, we accept applications on a rolling basis.
Step Four: Apply for Tuition Assistance
Tuition for the upcoming school year is typically set by the Board of Directors in December. To access our tuition assistance application, click here or visit the “Tuition & Tuition Assistance” tab above. Priority deadline for financial aid is February 1st.
Step Five: Teacher Talk
In February, applicants applying for grades 2-8 are invited to campus for a Teacher Talk. Teacher Talks give the applicant a chance to get to know one of their possible future teachers, and gives our teachers the opportunity to get to know the applicants better. During Teacher Talks, students will also engage in reading, writing, movement, and math tasks, alongside the teacher. The Teacher Talk scheduler will be sent out to applicant families in late January.
Step Five: Await Admissions Decision
Admission decisions are sent out during the first week of March. If we are able to accept your student, we will also send you a contract at this time. Contracts are due back two weeks from the date they were sent.
