An Invitation to Breathe With Us
As the seasons shift and the cold (and colds!) settle in, we are offered a rare moment to reflect as we rummage through our winter clothes to dust off our woolens and base layers. The busyness of summer and the start of the year are starting to lessen as we settle into our routines. The chatter and excitement of the first few weeks of school have shifted into a familiar cadence of children who know where their hooks are, what the lunch routine is, and what the “house rules” are for the gaga pit.
As the familiar pulls us out of summer and into fall toward winter, I invite you to take a moment to reflect on the past few weeks. Have you, as a caregiver, settled into your lunch-making routines yet? Have you found moments to breathe in the crisp fall air, like realllllyyyyyy taken a moment to take stock of the past few weeks and arrive in this moment - here… now?
If you, like me, are working, parenting, and trying to manage all of the after-school activities and social calendars for your kiddos, you may find it impossible to prioritize time to “breathe” or “take stock.” I get it. So, instead of reading any more about taking a breath, I invite you to take THIS moment to actually breathe.
Name 3 things that you see.
Name 3 things that you hear.
Name 3 things that you feel.
Now, invite your kiddos to do this too.
Together, we will continue to notice the beauty around us - and I invite you to breathe with us.
