When the picture becomes whole
Dear Center School Families,
There’s something special about the end of this week at school. The classrooms will be quieter, the usual rhythms will pause, and instead, we will gather for something just as important as the daily work of learning: conversation.
Conferences are a time to step back and truly see each child—not just in the context of school, or home, but in the full, layered way that only happens when we come together as partners. These conversations are about more than progress reports or skill development; they’re about who our children are becoming. What lights them up? Where are they stretching, growing, or discovering something new? What are the moments—big or small—that tell us who they are?
At school, we see children through the lens of their learning, their friendships, their problem-solving, and their quiet moments of wonder. At home, you see them in ways we never could—their after-school debriefs, their dinner-table musings, the way they carry their experiences into the world. And when we come together to talk about them, the picture becomes whole.
So this week, we welcome you into this space with joy and gratitude. Thank you for sharing your perspective, your questions, your insights. Thank you for letting us be part of your child’s journey. These conversations matter. And we’re so glad to have them with you.
In community,
Lauren Obregón, Interim Co-Head of School
